C64 / AMIGA / DEMOSCENE
Pixel Graphic Computer Artist

1989

READY?

I WAS A 14 YEARS OLD BOY SETTLED IN EAST GERMANY - READY TO FACE THIS WORLD OF COMPUTERS.

I was inspired by that Crack Intros infront of the Games even more than the Games themself.

... those Groups where digital underground and there was a certain thrill to become a part of it.

1990

My Music Hero on C64, Matt Gray.

Listen to the Remix and remind this was 3 Channels / Mono only.

A truely Master of Computer Sound.

I knew DDR  / GDR Computers like the KC85-3,
from computer courses in 1988 I was allowed
to participate.
Compared to the modern 8-BIT Technology
like a Commodore C64, this was just anncient.

The next 10 years would be the most elementary
years since. From Age of 14-24 (1989-1999) the
major things in my life set up.

In April 89, just some month before the german revolution Wende", I got a C64 smuggled over borders for my "Jugendweihe" (similar to confirmation).

in 1990 I changed to Commodore Amiga 500 Computer, which was much more a multimedia machine. 32 Colors ! you can mix by yourself. 4 Channel Stereo Music.  I used Dpaint (Deluxe Paint) and a mouse for my first steps on that machine.

Commodore C64 Computer had 16 ! predefined colors you can use.

Painted was via joystick not mouse, on TV not Monitor. And with Koala Painter, not Photoshop.

1990 meant -

to learn, learn, learn ....

my graphican hero that time:

Mithrandir / ACME
(Anders Finer / Sweden)

As I'm taken with the demoscene the frist time I saw C64 Intros I joined my very first real demogroup called "Paranoid" and resident in Braunschweig and region.

After some work to proof talent, I was welcome in the group and changed my handle to Spiv in 1990.

My application Logo for Group Paranoid was this below.  Signed with my old handle / nickname.

1991

I did alot of Logo Work for my first Amiga
Group called "Paranoid" - and there was some Gamedevelopment also.

As far as I know one Shooting Game made it to beta release state.

1992

We attended alot of Computer Demoparties at that time.

In 1993 Infect had sections in Sweden, Norway, Italy, Netherlands, England, Belgium, Malta, USA and some more...

1995

In 1994 I was quite lazy in the demoscene and was more concentrated in making and organising TECHNO Parties and Flyers and
Girls ;-)

In late 1993 we open up our first BBS - Bulletin Board System. Data was transfered now via phone cable and modem, not anymore by post package.

Good boards had a connection of 4.800 or 9.600 kb/s, later 14.000 or even 28.000 kb/s.

a quick overview of TECHNO Flyers

Aged 20 I moved to Leipzig to study Mediaart.
The town was inspirating with a vital Techno Scene and I even had some Demoscene Contacts here.

Back in 1995 I still had an AMIGA 500 with OCS Graphic Chipset.
So all pictures have to had a maximum of 32 Colors only !

Halftone where immitated with a method called dither.

Generation #23 - Discmagazine Cover

In 1996 I finally got an AMIGA 1200 - which was equiped with the AGA Graphic Chip and was able to show 256 Colors. Wow ;-)

Also in 1996 I started with my very first
Website Project "Pixeled Life".

Coded and tested with Amiga Webbrowser
Aweb and Ibrowse, aswell in my university
with on Mac with Netscape 2 :-)

TECHNO FLYERS where

designed from 94-97.

Labeled with "visual artwork" - a very
quite usual
name...

1997

In 97 I even more concentrated

in Internet Projects and, as was

study at an art academy, the
projects focuses on (net)art.

My halftime exams project "BODY" was a quite nice success even got mentioned in the press.

It's about creating your own (fake) identity on the net and sharing with the world. Some graphics of this project where still done on Amiga.

And Netscape3 invented Javascript 1.0 without this project wouldn't be possible.

1998

Beside commercial work I already started within the studies but not to mention here, I did the website for Technoclub Distillery 97-99, a wellknown Technoclub and meanwhile some of the oldest in Germany.

Beside the website itself, we made Live Broadcast right from the club. Live Audio and Live Video Streaming in 1998!  Powered by "borrowed" Computers and double ISDN Connection we had 128 KB/s ! Wow;-)

There were some VJ Sessions too, with Amiga as color cycle machine.

1999

in 1999 I had a nice "virtual reality" project with student mates called "Studio Inferno".

It was a mixed project, with video, bluebox, interactive Chat and Real Video Broadcast.

The Rest of the year I spend my working on my final exam project called "verybusy"...

2000

My Final Exam work was "verybusy.org" - a Database, a Searchengine, a Meeting Place "Community" for Netart, Video Art or any kind of computer art.

This Project I started with in 1998 had come to it's glory day at my presentation. It's not just about the programming, but managing and promoting the project in the forehand.

It was mentioned in the international Press several times and was quite a big success.

For me this was the end of my Studies. I managed "verybusy" ahead of about 8 Years longer till 2008.

2012 -
20 YEARS INFECT

1997

2005 - Endmonster in Hannover

2001+

As far as I can tell, everyone is in healty stable condition...  :-)

We meet in a row of years for barbecue and memories. The recent meeting was in September 2012, for the 20th anniversary of INFECT.

I started with freelance work at an agency "1000grad" offical in 2000, but I already did some works while the study time. Futhermore I worked for even more agencies in Leipzig, but after it all I work for commercial with an own Internet Agency SPIV - MEDIA in 1998 - 2007, then a business partner joined in 2008...

Things went bad in my opinion so I started once again at zero.
In 2010 I started with
SCHRÖDER-MEDIA because of internal reasons.

A almost complete overview of my work can be found here:
